REST IN POWER ARETHA FRANKLIN X TWO NEW "KOLORED GIRLS"

Yesterday, the incomparable Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin passed. I personally no longer try to look at someone passing as sad because no one is ever truly God. To me she has now become a powerful ancestor.

I have so many very distinct memories of listening and watching Aretha performing, obviously through tv and the radio. My mother and Aunt are massive fans

Back in my "rapper" days, on one of my earliest projects I recorded a song to this crazy "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" sample and remember a performance I think in kindergarten where they had us perform her music.

Needless to say I love Aretha. In fact, one of my first paintings was of her. I stumbled on it because someone liked it. It kinda trippy that in a way I kinda remade it unintentionally.

I pray that her family and friends are ok, know she with them. One of the Beautiful thimgs about artist's is what we create will always out live us. And when you do it at the highest level it'll always keep us alive.

May the Queen rest in Power.
